Aluminium Chloride is white colored powdery substance which finds application as a catalyst for acylation & alkylation reactions. It is known to have chemical formula AlCl3 with molar mass of 133.341 g/mol. This chemical is soluble in hydrogen chloride & chloroform and has density of 2.48 g/cm3. It is hygroscopic in nature with boiling & melting points of 180 and 192.6 degrees Celsius respectively. Aluminium Chloride is an inorganic compound which is known to crack at mild temperatures. It has monoclinic crystalline structure and is synthesized by exothermic reaction of aluminum & hydrogen chloride.
