Stable Bleaching Powder is an inorganic compound which is most commonly utilized as disinfecting & sanitizing agent. It is known to have chemical formula Ca(OCl)2 with molecular weight of 142.98 g/mol. Also known as calcium hypochlorite, this powder appears as grayish white in color and is completely mercury-free in nature. It is also used as oxidizing agent in organic chemistry applications. This compound can industrially be produced by treatment of lime with chlorine gas. Stable Bleaching Powder is non-flammable in nature and shows solubility in water with density of 2.35 g/cm3 and boiling point of 175 degrees Celsius.
